An easy way for students to help the hungry in Durham

Less than 20 minutes outside of Durham city, people are starving

The East Durham Trust’s FEED project is asking students to help provide food parcels for those in desperate need.

You can donate non-perishable food items to the food banks located in your college and the Students’ Union building.

The East Durham Trust’s FEED project operates on a referral system, and has to date supported at least 1500 individuals, 700 families and 1800 children.

However, incredibly high demand means that the system is under strain, and the charity is having to use dwindling funds that could be used to improve other aspects of the community.

It is easy for students to help. All you need to do is pick up an extra (non-perishable) food item next time you are stocking up on food and drop it into a food donation box.
