the sea is quiet today.

it is sunbathing like the shore.

the untrodden path quiet, dust unbeaten into the ground

slack like snakeskin soaking up the first sun’s warmth

without fear of footfall.

the tide slinks night-spill slow, taking its time to breathe,

finding a foothold in every inch of the earth’s turn.

boats lying unused exhale and relax into their creaks and crevasses

mending through soft weight

rubbing cheeks against the sand.
