An Obituary

Snowflake
So long
And farewell,
Snowflake.
Frozen water that does
Drift gentle from the sky
To
Settle
On our heads as we enjoy
Our drunken nights out.

None of you are
Identical
They say, but
How can they know?
With only a finite
Number of permutations
Of ice crystal structures
And the infinite extent
Of the universe within which to fall,
Surely you will find your brother
Eventually?

Or not.

Because you’ve
Landed in my
Pint
And been absorbed into its foamy
Goodness.
