Can Durham make the quarter-finals? Next University Challenge date announced

Durham: a team so dominant, even Paxman wants to join

After defeating Brasenose College 35 to 250, there are high hopes for the Durham University Challenge team as they progress to round two.

The programme will be aired on 17 November on BBC 2 at 20:00, when Durham will battle it out with another university – as yet unknown – for a place in the quarter-finals.

The team of Morgan-Thomas, Lloyd, Harvey and Boyd-Shah showed an impressive knowledge of everything from politics to opera and Greek mythology in the opening episode, which aired on 6 October.

Next year’s team are currently being chosen during the annual try-outs, which are organised by the Students’ Union with the support of the common rooms.

The University Challenge team selection final, for the next series, will take place on Tuesday 11 October 2014, from 19:15 onward, in Dunelm House (DSU building). All students are welcome to go along to watch.

Wildcard One (a team made up of wildcard entrants from various colleges) will play Trevelyan in the final, with St Chads and Castle competing for third place.
