Dare to Change: Frontline and Careers in Social Work

Frontline are now recruiting for their Leadership Development Programme in Social Work, and the deadline for applications, Monday 19th November, is fast approaching. Frontline is a charity seeking to raise awareness about the vital work that social workers do and train graduates to transform the lives of vulnerable children and families as social workers and leaders in society.

At least half a million children in the UK don’t have a safe or stable home and over 50,000 children are on child protection plans at considered to be at risk of significant harm. Social workers, such as those trained by Frontline, fight to support and protect the welfare of children and families and help children achieve their full potential. Without the crucial work that they do, these numbers will not decrease.

A disrupted and difficult childhood impairs immediate health and development and affects long term confidence and opportunities. Only 6% of care leaves go to university compared to approximately 40% of all young people and almost a third of the homeless population have been in care at some point in their lives. Frontline trains prospective social workers to seek to develop supportive, open and honest relationships with children at risk and understand their feelings, while assessing their needs and striving to give them the stability, safety and confidence to reach their full potential.

Frontline are changing the game and ensuring that vulnerable and disadvantaged children receive the best support they possibly can. Their two-year Leadership Development Programme provides first-class training, experience and a fully-funded postgraduate diploma and masters qualification in social work. Frontline wants Durham graduates to join a career in which they can help others and make a difference.
